NOTICE OF MEETING : JAWUG AGM 2012

Dear Jawug Member

A year has passed since the last JAWUG AGM which mean it is time for MANCOM elections again.

The Mancom of JAWUG hereby gives notice of the annual general meeting which will be held on : Saturday 3rd November 2012 from 10h00 At Nashua Mobile Head office (Recreational area see map on wiki)

Itinerary:

  • 10am-10:30am: arrival & introduction.
  • 10:30am-12am: presentation from current Mancom.
  • 12am-1pm : Nominee presentation – committee nominees will introduce themselves.
  • 1pm-2pm : Voting counting, introducing new Mancom member.
  • 2:30 onwards: Braai & Festivities

Anyone that is not on the wug and is looking at joining Jawug is also very welcome to come and get a familiarity with the people and how things work on the wug.

Very often questions that are not easily answered on the wiki/forum/chat are easily resolved by asking and chatting in person.

So come join us for a fun day of chatting, eating, drinking and getting to know your wug and its’ members.

Nomination and Voting :
Nominations for the six positions on the JAWUG ManCom 2012-2013

All nominations must be proposed and seconded by someone other than the person being nominated. All nominations must be accepted by the person nominated.

Only valid members (membership fees paid) will be eligible to stand for election to ManCom and/or vote in the election.

Duties of MANCOM Members
JAWUG MANCOM is an elected committee that is responsible for the administrative duties required for the running of JAWUG, this entails carrying out activities such as, but not limited to, Finance, regulatory compliance, management of JAWUG assets, membership management, Public relations, Holding regular in person meetings etc and the overall running of JAWUG as a formal entity as set out in the constitution.

JAWUG MANCOM does not by duty participate in the technical and network administration activities on the network, these activities are carried out by Core admins and the community. If however they feel they would like to be involved technically, nothing prevents them from doing so.

PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING IN MIND WHEN NOMINATING OR ACCEPTING A NOMINATION.
If you are nominated and are considering acceptance of the nomination, please ensure that you have sufficient free time available to carry out the duties and responsibilities that comes part of being a committee member in the organization.

  • Nominations close [26/10/2012].
  • JAWUG AGM will be held on Saturday the 3rd November 2012 at the Nashua Mobile entertainment area.

Software freedom day  is a worldwide celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). Our goal in this celebration is to educate the worldwide public about the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education, in government, at home, and in business — in short, everywhere! The non-profit organization Software Freedom International coordinates SFD at a global level, providing support, giveaways and a point of collaboration, but volunteer teams around the world organize the local SFD events to impact their own communities.
